NCJA’s Topical Policy Sessions focus on criminal justice policy topics that are part of the national conversation. These members-only virtual sessions, take place throughout the year and allow members to engage with experts and ask questions about how the conversation around that policy is unfolding.
This session will explore advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning and discuss the implication on the criminal justice system and the role of the SAA.
Speakers:
Chief Philip Lukens has been at the forefront of applying artificial intelligence and technology to enhance public safety and community trust. He serves on IACP Police Professional Standards Ethics and Image Committee and the IACP AI Working Group.
Angela Hawken, Ph.D., is a Professor of Public Policy and Director of the NYU Marron Institute of Urban Management. She is the founding director of NYU’s BetaGov, which supports innovation-and-testing for social good. Most recently, her team is helping prosecutors to harness their own data for equitable decision making, through analysis and decision-support tools.
