Join the Justice Information Resource Network’s 2026 Virtual Conference on June 9–11, a three-day online event focused on strengthening the role of justice data in research, policy, and practice. The conference brings together justice researchers, analysts, and practitioners for plenaries, interactive discussions, and workshops designed to explore how rigorous data analysis can better inform decision-making in today’s complex justice environment. Attendees will gain insights on topics such as data credibility, transparency, administrative data integration, and strategies for communicating evidence to policymakers and the public.
About the Theme
Criminal justice policy is at a pivotal moment. Efforts in recent years to reduce relianceon incarceration, expand alternative courts, limit pretrial detention, enhance prisonersafety, support violence interruption strategies, and integrate trauma-informedapproaches across the system are now being reconsidered—or in some cases, rolledback.
Navigating this period of change requires rigorous data analysis, targeted research, andhigh-quality evaluations. Without sound evidence to inform decision-making, policyshifts risk unintended consequences, increased costs, and potential harm to individualsand communities.
At the same time, skepticism toward data and research, combined with uncertainty andreductions in funding, poses a threat to the development and sustainability of a strongevidence base for justice policy.
This event will convene thought leaders, research advocates, and applied criminaljustice researchers to examine how the field can move forward, strengthen the role ofevidence, and advance data-informed decision-making during challenging times.
