Join the Justice Information Resource Network (JIRN) on August 7, 2025, from 2:00–3:00 pm (Eastern) for an exclusive members-only interview panel exploring contemporary research and prevention strategies on hate crimes.

Moderated by Stephen M. Haas, Ph.D. (JIRN Vice President), this discussion features leading experts Jack McDevitt, Ph.D. (Northeastern University) and James Nolan, Ph.D. (West Virginia University). The panel will examine rising national hate crime trends—including increased firearm use—even as overall crime rates decline. It will address critical challenges in data collection and reporting, the role of online radicalization, and gaps between official data and public perception.

The conversation will also highlight effective, multi-sector prevention and intervention strategies that go beyond criminal penalties, emphasizing the vital roles of communities, schools, law enforcement, and state statistical analysis centers and planning agencies. This interactive session includes opportunities for attendees to share concerns, innovative approaches, and questions.

Don’t miss this important discussion on understanding and addressing one of the most urgent public safety and social justice issues of our time.
