The SJS funded Maryland Court Data Analysis project is an interactive data dashboard examining court data for criminal charges filed in Maryland District and Circuit courts from 2001 to 2021. The dashboard is designed to increase data transparency, display trends in case outcomes, and provide a searchable format allowing users to explore and compare trends in prosecution, conviction, and sentencing across a variety of metrics, including jurisdiction, demographics and filing and disposition dates. The dashboard provides an intuitive way to search for cases over a wide range of crime categories and search features. It also includes interactive analysis pages, one pagers presenting findings of a selected snapshot, a user guide, methodology information, and links to additional resources available through other agencies. The Maryland SAC will also present a case study where this dataset was utilized to further examine court cases involving human trafficking offenses.
