High-Need, High-Impact: Using the Situation Table Model to Reduce Police Calls and Support Communities

November 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

Computer graphic with webinar

In Vermont, research by the Crime Research Group, Inc. (CRG) revealed that in five jurisdictions, just 20 individuals accounted for 6–11% of all police calls for service—most of which were non-criminal in nature. These findings highlighted the need for a new approach to support individuals with complex challenges and reduce unnecessary involvement with the justice system. In response, Vermont has adopted the Situation Table model: a risk-driven, rapid triage strategy that brings together representatives from multiple agencies to share limited information and coordinate timely interventions.

In this free brown bag, staff from CRG, Cordata Healthcare Innovations, Inc., and local Situation Table members will share insights from the research, explain how the model works, and discuss how communities are applying it to improve public safety and connect people with the services they need.
