On September 7, OJJDP celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA). This landmark legislation set federal standards for the safe and equitable treatment of young people who encounter the juvenile justice system. The legislation also established OJJDP to provide national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to youth delinquency and victimization.
In honor of this milestone, OJJDP will host the first Administrators’ Forum: “JJDPA Through the Decades,” on October 8, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. ET. The event will be held at the Office of Justice Programs’ new Location.
OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan will be joined by former OJJDP Administrators for a panel discussion that will explore the evolution of the JJDPA and pivotal moments in juvenile justice. A Q&A session will follow the panel discussion.
